Gran Mezquita de Salé

Rabat · Ad No. 848

Founded in the 11th century, the Great Mosque of Salé is one of the largest and oldest in Morocco. Its sober facade and minaret dominate the noblest quarter of the medina. Next to it is the 14th-century Marinid madrasa, featuring delicate stucco and woodwork. Although the interior of the mosque is reserved for Muslims, the surrounding area is well worth a visit. 📷 Photographs courtesy of Abdeaitali (CC BY-SA 4.0), Anass Sedrati (CC BY-SA 4.0) and R Prazeres (CC BY-SA 4.0), via Wikimedia Commons.
