Abu Dhabi · Ad No. 595
Built over 200 years ago, the small Al Maqtaa Fort watched over the entrance passage to Abu Dhabi island against bandits and invaders. Its watchtower, set on a small islet in the channel, contrasts with the modern bridges that cross the water today. It is one of the city's oldest buildings. It is best viewed from the bridges leading onto the island, especially at sunset, and is an ideal spot to photograph the contrast between the old and the new. 📷 Photographs courtesy of Marko (CC BY-SA 4.0), Rifat Yakan (CC BY-SA 4.0) and Aliyah M Ibasan (CC BY-SA 4.0), via Wikimedia Commons.
