For centuries, the Doge's Palace was the official residence of the Doge, the supreme authority of the former Republic of Venice, as well as the seat of government and the courts. Considered a masterpiece of Venetian Gothic architecture, its interior houses impressive halls decorated with works by Tintoretto, Veronese, and other great Italian artists. The tour also allows visitors to explore the old prisons and cross the famous Bridge of Sighs from the inside. It is one of the most important and spectacular historic buildings in Venice.
