PUENTE DE LOS SUSPIROS
Venice · Ad No. 110
The Bridge of Sighs is one of Venice's most iconic monuments and one of the city's most representative sights. Built in 1600 using white Istrian stone, it connects the Doge's Palace with the old Venetian prisons. Its name comes from the legend that prisoners would sigh as they caught their last glimpse of Venice before being locked away. Its elegant Baroque architecture, its location over the Río di Palazzo, and its immense historical value make it one of the most photographed places in Italy.
