Torre del Reloj de Deira

Dubai · Ad No. 553

Built in the 1960s, the Deira Clocktower was one of Dubai's first modern landmarks and a symbol of the arrival of oil. It stands in the center of a large roundabout surrounded by fountains, and today it shares the space with the traffic and buildings of the neighborhood. A historic landmark of the old city. You can see it on your way to the Deira souks or Dubai Creek, and at night its lighting makes it even more photogenic. It's a quick and interesting stop to understand the city's growth in the sixties. 📷 Photographs courtesy of Iwona Rege (CC BY-SA 4.0) and Leakingh (CC BY-SA 4.0), via Wikimedia Commons.
