BASILICA DE SAN MARCOS

St Mark's Basilica is the most important religious building in Venice and one of the finest examples of Byzantine architecture in the world. Built in the 11th century, it stands out for its five large domes, more than 8,000 square metres of golden mosaics and extraordinary decoration with marble from the East. Inside, you can also visit the St Mark's Museum, the famous Pala d'Oro and the panoramic terrace offering magnificent views of St Mark's Square and the Venetian lagoon.
