Gran Mezquita de Chefchaouen

Tetuán · Ad No. 655

The 15th-century Great Mosque of Chefchaouen stands out for its unique octagonal minaret, which is unusual in Morocco and has Andalusian influence. It presides over Uta el-Hammam square next to the kasbah. Although its interior is reserved for Muslims, its silhouette is one of the symbols of the blue city. At dusk, the call to prayer echoes through the mountains. 📷 Photographs courtesy of Jalil Arfaoui (CC BY 3.0), Belbachirkamal (CC BY-SA 4.0) and ZAINEB HACHAMI (CC BY-SA 4.0), via Wikimedia Commons.
