Templo Senso-ji

Tokyo's oldest Buddhist temple, founded in the 7th century in the Asakusa neighborhood. You enter through the grand Kaminarimon gate, with its huge red lantern, and walk down the Nakamise shopping street, full of traditional sweet shops and souvenir stalls, all the way to the main temple and its five-story pagoda. Admission is free and at night, illuminated, it is especially beautiful.
