Mellah de Marrakech

Marrakech · Ad No. 609

The Mellah is the old Jewish quarter of Marrakech, founded in the 16th century next to the royal palace. Its narrow streets, wooden balconies and multi-story houses set it apart from the rest of the medina. Visitors can explore the Lazama Synagogue, the large Jewish cemetery and the lively spice market in the square. Walking through the Mellah is discovering the history of cultural coexistence that shaped the city for centuries, and it pairs very well with a visit to the Bahia Palace. 📷 Photographs courtesy of Yastay (CC BY-SA 4.0), via Wikimedia Commons.
