The Saadian Tombs hold the remains of the dynasty that ruled Morocco in the 16th century. Hidden for centuries behind a wall, they were rediscovered in 1917 and today amaze visitors with the Chamber of the Twelve Pillars, featuring Carrara marble, exquisite stucco work, and a carved cedar dome. The gardens surrounding the mausoleums house hundreds of tile-decorated tombs. As it is a small space, queues form: the best strategy is to arrive at opening time, and combine the visit with the nearby Kasbah Mosque and Bab Agnaou. 📷 Photographs courtesy of Jerzy Strzelecki (CC BY 3.0) and mwanasimba (CC BY-SA 2.0), via Wikimedia Commons.
