Marrakech · Ad No. 608

North of Jemaa el Fna lies a labyrinth of covered alleys where the souks are grouped by trade: dyers, blacksmiths, tanners, jewelers, potters, and spice and lamp vendors. Getting lost among their stalls is an experience for all the senses, with aromas of leather, mint, and cedar. Bargaining is part of the game and it is best to do it with a good sense of humor. To find your way, the best thing is to use the square and the Ben Youssef Medersa as references, and visit the souks in the morning, when the artisans work in plain sight. 📷 Photographs courtesy of Michael Day (CC BY 2.0) and Arnaud 25 (CC BY-SA 3.0), via Wikimedia Commons.
